The project takes the strategy of “breaking one into two, whole into parts”, conceals the public spaces down to the valley, and breaks the guest rooms of ridge into small volumes. The whole building cluster consequently gets used to the terrain and fairly integrates with the environment. Concrete blocks of black, white and gray are applied, where a contemporary Chinese watermountain cluster is created, with the common cement products widely used in small village and towns.
Interior design does not necessarily conflict with the architecture. We respects the original architectural intent and to enhance the given spatial qualities. The proposal involves in making mini-architecture within the bare shell and creating micro-environments without completely covering up the actual internal structure.
The careful manipulation between the planned and the blank, the refined and the rustic, the permanent and the transformable is to be read as our persistent exploration on smart use of resources with regards flexibility, effectiveness and appropriateness.
